At least 15 individuals sustained injuries in Delduar upazila of Tangail during a clash between rival BNP factions over the party's candidacy for the 13th Jatyia Sangsad election, reports bdnews24.com.
The confrontation occurred on Friday noon at Elasin Bazar between supporters of the party's nominated candidate Robiul Awal Lawlu and supporters of Jewel Sarkar, who was denied the nomination, according to Delduar Police chief Shoaib Khan.
BNP activists said Jewel's supporters staged a human chain demanding his nomination in Tangail-6 (Nagarpur-Delduar), also praying for Khaleda Zia's recovery.
After the demonstration, Jewel's supporters led a protest march through the market, coinciding with a procession by Lawlu's supporters.
