Food Minister Advocate Kamrul Islam said residing abroad Tareque Zia is slandering father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman deliberately at the behest of Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI, reports BSS.

He said: "BNP's existence is at risk after being failed in organising any movement that is why an expatriate Tareque Rahman with advice from the ISI is engaged in lying blandly."

The Food Minister said this while speaking at an award-giving ceremony at the Central Public Library's Shawkat Osman Memorial Hall in the city Friday.

The programme was organised by Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela marking the Bangabandhu's birthday and the 21st National Children's Day.

State Minister for Finance MA Mannan was present as the special guest while president of the organisation Shirin Akhter Manju was in the chair.

Advocate Kamrul said: "Some people say he is crazy. I say he is not mad. There is a method to his madness. Upstart, uneducated and black sheep - all adjectives could be attributed to him. But he is doing so in a planned manner."

He added: "He has been appointed to talk like that. He has been appointed by the ISI. Finally, they have resorted to this speech-terror, information-terror and lying by Tareque".

Addressing the children and adolescents, he said: "The place where Bangabandhu made his famous speech of March 7, 1971 and where the Pakistan army surrendered to the Allied Forces that spot was chosen by Ziaur Rahman to build a children's park. It could have been built elsewhere. It was built to erase the historical memories of our Liberation War".
