BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman has accused Prime Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina of trying to depict Bangladesh as a militant country in a motivated bid to perpetuate her power in the name of eliminating the so-called militancy, reports UNB.
"Whenever Hasina comes to power, she tries to portray Bangladesh as a militant state. She has done it at the UN summit this time as well. The religion-loving people of Bangladesh don't support militancy," he told a discussion in London Monday.
The UK chapter BNP arranged the discussion on late president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman at York Hall in East London, according to a message received in Dhaka Tuesday.
Tarique said people irrespective of their religion, party opinion and colour must wage a strong mass movement against Hasina to make the country free from militancy.
