Detained BNP leader Tarique Rahman, one of the corrupt suspects who had been directed by the Anti-Corruption Commission to submit his wealth statement, was Tuesday quizzed by a team at Dhaka Central Jail about the information provided in his wealth statement, reports UNB
The team, led by ACC deputy director Zahirul Huda, quizzed Tarique, the eldest son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, for over an hour. An army major working with an anti-crime taskforce and an official of National Board of Revenue were also in the team.
About the questioning, Zahirul said that they sought clarification about the information Tarique gave in his wealth statement.
On June 10, Tarique, also BNP's senior joint secretary general, in his wealth statement mentioned that his wife inherited significant wealth, including parts of several houses in the capital, from her parents.
