Speakers at a human chain in the city demanded Saturday exemplary punishment of BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman for his remarks against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reports UNB.

The human chain was jointly organised by Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad and Bangabandhu Adarsha Bastabayan Parishad in front of the Jatiya Press Club.

Addressing the human chain, Parishad president Jinnat Ali Khan Jinnah said Tariqe Rahman violated the constitution by terming Bangabandhu as 'Pakbandhu'.

Tarique should be brought to justice for violating the constitution, distorting history and issuing false statement, he added.

Jinnah noted that Tarique Rahman has looted thousand crores of taka and siphoned off that money.

"Spending this smuggled money, he is now propagating against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and distorting history staying in London," he said.

He said the government should bring Tarique back home and give him exemplary punishment so that he can never say a word against Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

City Awami League publicity and publication secretary Abdul Haque Sabuj, Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad Dhaka city president Shahadat Hossain and Awami Olama League senior vice-president Mowlana Asaduzzaman also spoke at the programme.
