Task force probing into wealth of ex AL lawmaker Atiq

SHERPUR, Oct 29 (UNB): Task force investigating the wealth of former lawmaker of Awami League (AL) Atiqur Rahman Atiq Monday visited his village home at Baroghoria in Sadar Upazila.
Lawmaker for two consecutive terms Atiq was listed as corrupt-suspect by the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC).
He has already submitted statement of his wealth worth Tk 4.3 million (43 lakh).
Hiding somewhere in the capital city the former lawmaker told the news agency by phone that he has no ill-gotten wealth. Property inherited from his father and savings of remuneration as a lawmaker for 10 years have all been shown in the wealth statement to the ACC.
Major Zulfiqar Ali of Ghatail cantonment heading the four-member task force said they have examined different sources and interrogated officials to ascertain the wealth of Atiq, also president of Sherpur district AL. They may make further inquiries.
