Detained Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina's income-tax lawyer Khondoker Moniruzzaman Monday met her at the makeshift jail on the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban premises to verify her income-tax return, reports UNB.
"We just came here to show her (Hasina) statement on regular income-tax return like every year," Moniruzzaman told reporters at the sub-jail after ending discussion with the AL chief and ex-PM in the afternoon.
He also said that they would try to submit her tax return by September 26. "Before submission of her tax to the National Board of Revenue (NBR), I'll meet her once again within a day or two to show her tax payment for rechecking," he said.
About Hasina's tax figure, her lawyer said, "We can't tell it as the rules of the Income Tax Act don't permit to do so. If anyone interested to know someone's tax figure, he will be informed from NBR."
Quoting Hasina, the counsel said that the health condition of the former premier is fine, and she wanted to know about her son, daughter and sister.
Responding to a query, he said that Hasina didn't say anything about politics and her party.
