Teacher held for 'insulting' Tarique

Police have arrested a teacher for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Acting BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman during a visit to Sharif Osman bin Hadi's grave, reports bdnews24.com.
AKM Shahidul Islam, the arrestee, is a teacher at Gabtoli Technical Training Centre in the capital.
According to Moniruzzaman, chief of Shahbagh Police, Inqilab Moncho activists restrained him near the graveyard close to Dhaka University campus on Saturday.
"During the visit to Hadi's grave, the individual was mocking Tarique, calling him a terrorist and extortionist. Activists saw this, detained him, and handed him over to police after a brief scuffle," the officer said.
He added that Shahidul was later formally arrested under Section 54 of the Code of Criminal Procedure and would be sent to jail through the court. Police are investigating the matter.
Earlier in the day, around 11:30 am, Tarique paid tribute at Hadi's grave at Dhaka University with flowers and offered prayers. He also visited the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Having returned to the country after more than 17 years, Tarique had earlier visited his mother, former prime minister Khaleda Zia, at Evercare Hospital, and paid respects at BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's grave at National Memorial the following afternoon.
