Terrorism not the way to realise demand: Hanif

Awami League (AL) joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif said on Monday terrorism is not the way to realise demand from the government.
"It'll remain as a bad example if any demand is realised through terrorist acts in the name of non-stop blockade. It's not possible to realise demand by carrying out terrorist acts in any civilised country," he said.
The AL leader said this while addressing a press conference at its president office at Dhanmondi in the city.
Pointing at the BNP-led alliance, the ruling party leader said, "If they withdraw their programme, we promise, the government will control all subversive acts within 24 hours."
When asked why the government had been failing to contain the violence, Hanif said, "The BNP is a large political organisation. They have 30-35 per cent voters and millions of activists."
"Suppressing them will take time. But hopefully they will be dealt with very soon."
Hanif thinks a dialogue is only possible if BNP-Jamaat alliance accepts blame for violence during the blockade.
AL organising secretary Ahmed Hossain was, among others, present at the press conference.
