Three JMB militants acquitted

CHITTAGONG, Sept 10 (UNB) A Speedy Trial Tribunal court Wednesday acquitted three JMB militants, including Chittagong Divisional Commander Javed Iqbal alias Mohammad, from the case filed for bombing in Bandar thana on August 17, 2005 as part of a series bombing across the country.brJudge M Shafiqul Karim delivered the judgment acquitting Javed Iqbal, Abu Jawar and Abdus Sattar as the charges against them were not proved.brOf them, Javed Iqbal and Abu Jawar were present in the dock when the judge pronounced the judgment while Abdus Sattar is tried in absentia.brThis was the third verdict in August 17 serial bombing in the port city.brThe charge sheet was filed against six JMB kingpins and activists in the case but as Bangla Bhai, Shaiyekh Abdur Rahman and Ataur Rahman Sani were executed in the Judge killing case last year they were relieved from the case.brEarlier, on August 31 and September 9, the same court sentenced Javed to 20 years RI for exploding bombs in front of a petrol pump at Halishahar thana and GEC Crossing under Khulshi thana on August 17, 2005.
