Speakers at a human chain stressed the need for ensuring rational price of the foodstuffs and availability of farming materials to face country's food shortage.
They said concerted efforts rather than individual initiative needed to ensure food safety.
Campaign for Good Governance (CGG) organised the human chain on the observance of the World Food Day in front of the National Museum Saturday.
Speakers said united approach needed to stamp out poverty by reducing prices of agricultural products including fertiliser and seeds by providing soft loans to farmers.
Among others, Md Shahidullah, deputy managing director of CGG, Bilkis Akhter, a member of CGG in Dhaka group and Unnati Rani addressed the programme.
