Thrust on showing respect to martyrs of Liberation War

The nation should show respect to its valiant martyrs and freedom fighters of the Liberation War of 1971 to uphold the spirit of independence, speakers at a discussion said.
They said this at a discussion organised by Northern University of Bangladesh (NUB) on its campus in the capital recently to mark the 'Victory Day', said a university statement.
NUB Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr M Shamsul Haque chaired the session, while Treasurer M Abu Bakar Siddique, Head of Business Administration Department Prof M A Razzaque and Dean of Science and Engineering Faculty Prof Dr Md Nurul Islam, among others, spoke on the occasion.
VC Shamsul Haque said there is ample scope in the country to materialise the dreams of the martyrs.
Prof Razzaque said independence must be protected as it was earned through the sacrifice of the martyrs and freedom fighters.
"We can uphold victory by showing respect to the martyrs," he said.
