The Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) demanded on Sunday identifying the people who were involved in human trafficking and bringing them to justice, reports UNB.
Expressing grave concern over the plight of boatpeople, TIB in a statement said the lack of governance in migration sector, pervasive corruption and weaknesses in law enforcement were the main reasons behind the human trafficking in the country.
The anti-graft body urged the government to form a national taskforce with the United Nations and the countries concerned to rescue the boatpeople floating in the seas.
TIB executive director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said as per the media reports, now it is clear that a section of influential people, administrators and members of law enforcing agencies in collusion with each other forced the would-be migrants into a human collapse.
