Tk 590m allocated for ACC to boost its campaign

 The government has allocated Tk 590 million for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the proposed budget for the fiscal 2014-2015 in a bid to expedite the anti-graft campaign.
Of the total allocation, Tk 570 million was allocated for non-development sector and Tk 20 million for development sector.
The government had allocated Tk 480 million for the ACC in the revised budget of the fiscal 2013-2014.
In his budget speech Finance Minister AMA Muhith said 'Combating corruption has always been our priority. We, however, believe that laws alone cannot eliminate corruption from the society. It will require strong political will, social commitment and institutional drive.'
The Finance Minister said required amendments had been made to the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and the Commission was equipped with adequate manpower and logistics help it work more efficiently and independently.
