Tk 750m Kashimpur high security central jail opens in Gazipur

Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun Thursday formally inaugurated the country's first ever world-class security prison, "Kashimpur High Security Central Jail" in Gazipur district, reports BSS.
The minister opened the prison by cutting ribbon in the morning. Senior Home Secretary CQK Mustaq Ahmed, Inspector General of Prisons Brigadier General Ashraful Islam Khan and high officials of the ministry, police and prisons were present at the inaugural ceremony.
It was constructed on 10 acres of land in Kashimpur area of Gazipur district involving Tk 750 million having accommodation facilities for 1,000 top criminals, including Islamist militants and extremists.
The facilities include latest and world-class technologies and security devices like cell phone jammers, secret cameras and metal detectors.
It is the first world-class prison in the country with latest security technologies to make it most secured and protected one.
The facility was developed to accommodate under trial and convicted militants and extremists, top gangsters and hardened criminals considered threat to national security and public life.
