Togor, convicted of killing BUET student Sony, remanded

A Dhaka court has placed Mushfiq Uddin Togor, convicted in the 2002 murder of BUET student Sabekun Nahar Sony, on a two-day remand in an arms case, reports bdnews24.com.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq issued the r order on Saturday, following a request from the investigating officer of the case filed with the Lalbagh Police Station.

Advocate Muslem Uddin Bhuiyan represented Togor in court.

The investigating officer, Sub-Inspector Matiar Rahman Bulbul of Lalbagh police, had requested a five-day remand, he said.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Togor from the capital's Azimpur on Thursday afternoon. He had been illegally acquiring weapons from border areas and supplying them to individuals in Dhaka, according to RAB.

RAB-3 Director Md Khalequzzaman initiated the case on Friday afternoon, and Togor was then handed over to the Lalbagh Police Station.
