FE REPORT
Leaders of the 11-party alliance led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami have threatened to launch a tougher movement if the government fails to implement the July Charter and the referendum results.
They also warned that if the government takes any action against the interests of the people, they will stage movements both in the streets and inside the Jatiya Sangsad.
The warnings came at a rally organised by the 11 paty alliance in front of the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in the capital on Saturday afternoon.
They said no government in the past could survive by taking a stance against the people.
Commenting on the ordinances issued during the Dr Mohammad Yunus-led interim government, they warned that if the current government annuls any of them, it will not be able to remain in power.
They urged the government to implement the July Charter and the referendum results in the interests of the people and the country.
Senior Jamaat leader ATM Azharul Islam called on the government not to go against the will of the people, warning that, if necessary, they would take to the streets to realise public demands.
After the rally, a procession was taken out from Baitul Mukarram National Mosque and concluded at Nightingale Intersection.
