Transport blockade to continue: BNP

January 12, 2015 00:00:00

BNP reaffirmed Sunday that the 20-party's ongoing countrywide transport blockade would continue until the fall of this regime, reports UNB.

"I call upon leaders and activists of the BNP-led 20-party alliance to continue the blockade programme. This programme will continue without any pause," BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said this at a press conference at the residence of a BNP senior leader in the city's Gulshan area.

Having failed to come out of her office to join a planned rally of the 20-party alliance in the city to mark 'Democracy Killing Day' on January-5, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia enforced the blockade for an indefinite time.

Rizvi came down hard on the ruling party leaders for criticising the 20-party for continuing the blockade programme during the Biswa Ijtema, saying Awami League is a party of frauds and liars. "A ruling party leader said whether the 20-party had declared a war against Bangladesh by enforcing the blockade during the Biswa Ijtema. "We become surprised by hearing such remarks of the Awami League leaders."

"Those indiscriminately killed the boys having the holy Quran in their hearts at the rally of Hefajat, those made derogatory comments against the Prophet Muhammad (SM) and those kept their minister with hospitality like of a son-in-law in jail after making offensive remarks against Tabligh and the Prophet (SM) are now crying for Islam," he observed.

He alleged that the ruling party is now pretending to be a fake religious party as it is originally dishonest about religion. "They're carrying out false campaign. We must remain aware of them."

About the FBCCI president's remarks that a law should be formulated to ban programmes like hartal and blockade, Rizvi said the head of the top body of the businessmen should not talk only directed by someone or a party. "He did not say to put an end to extra judicial killings, enforced disappearances and secret killings."
