The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 exonerated four persons including the editor of the Daily Sangram from contempt of court proceedings as they sought unconditional apology, reports BSS.
The ICT-1 on August 3, 2014, issued the notice upon Sangram editor Abul Asad, its Rangpur correspondent Md Nuruzzaman, former unit commander of Badarganj Thana Muktijoddha Sangsad Ekramul Haque Dulu and former president of Chhatra League Rangpur district unit Azizur Rahman Ranga, asking them to reply as to why contempt of court proceedings shall not be drawn against them.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim, chairman of the three-member panel of ICT-1, issued the notice as the last two accused gave interviews on a sub judice matter during the course of the court proceedings, and those were published in the Daily Sangram.
After the notice was issued, all the four accused appeared before the court on different dates, submitted their reply in writing and sought unconditional apology. In its order Thursday, the tribunal disposed of the matter with caution for the accused.
