Two AL leaders killed in Jessore, Pabna

JESSORE, Nov 27 (BSS): Unidentified assailants overnight shot a local leader of Awami League (AL) leader and businessman dead as he was on his way back home on a motorbike, police said here today.
They said 42-year old Mahfuzur Rahman Khokon was shot from behind as he was returning to his village home at Sultanpur last night shortly after taking a cup of tea from a stall in the Sheikhati-Jamrultala area of Sadar Upazila of the district.
"The residents at the neighbourhood rushed him to the Jessore Medical College Hospital where the doctor on duty pronounced him dead," a police official told newsmen.
He said Khokon was sitting on the backseat of the motorbike which was being driven by one of his aides Jahangir, who however, escaped the attack unhurt.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jessore Kotwali Thana Enamul Haque said an investigation into the murder was launched but suspected it could be a sequel to Khokon's enmity with somebody.
Another report adds from Pabna, Miscreants killed a local Awami League (AL) leader and poultry farmer Khairul Kazi, 35, at Char Kushakhali under Pabna Sadar Upazila of the district Wednesday night.
Khairul kazi, son of Kurban Kazi hailed from Radhakantapur under Pabna Sadar Upazila of the district.
Police sources said Khairul Kazi was going to Pabna town from his village home by a motorcycle at about 9.30pm Wednesday night.
The miscreants stopped him on way to Pabna town near char Khushakhali School and stabbed him indiscriminately and finally shot him dead.
Receiving information police rushed to the spot at about 11.30 pm and recovered the body.
After postmortem at Pabna General Hospital morgue the body of Khairul kazi was handed over to his relatives for burial.
