Two ex-Jamaat MPs held with bombs in city

Police in a drive arrested 13 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir (ICS), including two former Jamaat MPs, from the city's Mirpur area on Monday, reports UNB.

The arrested ex-MPs are Mia Golam Parwar of Khulna-5 constituency and Mujibur Rahman of Rajshahi.

Tipped off, a joint team from Pallabi thana and detectives launched a drive at a house in Mirpur-11 around 11:45 am when some Jamaat and Shibir men were holding a secret meeting in the name of Sramik Kalayan Federation, officer-in-charge (OC) of the thana Dadon Fakir said.

The joint team arrested 13 Jamaat-Shibir men along with 20 crude bombs, huge sticks and huge Islamic books from the spot, the OC added.
