Unconditional release of Hasina demanded

NETRAKONA, Oct 24 (BSS): Acting general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) Syed Ashraful Islam said that the present caretaker government (CG) made a series of commitments to the nation for holding a free, fair and credible national elections with ensuring participation of all political parties in the December 18 polls.
He expressed his frustration for, what he said, the government was yet to make any headway to lift the state of emergency, which is a main barrier on the way to holding a free, fair and credible elections.
Syed Ashraf said that the candidates would have to face different problems to conduct their mass-contact programmes to woo the voters who will also have to face various obstacles to exercise their right of franchise freely under the emergency rules.
The AL acting general secretary made these remarks while he was addressing a condolence meeting recalling the memory of former MP and president of Netrakona district AL late Fazlur Rahman Khan at Mohua auditorium here Friday.
Chaired by President of Netrakona district AL Mohammad Shamsuzzuha, the meeting was addressed, among others, by general secretary of Netrakona district AL Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru. The meeting was conducted by publicity secretary of the district AL Zillur Rahman Noman.
