UNDP satisfied with preparations for holding elections

Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Renata Lok-Dessallien Tuesday expressed her satisfaction with the preparations by the caretaker government towards holding elections, reports UNB.
During a meeting with Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury at the latter's office Tuesday afternoon, she also appreciated the post-flood rehabilitation programmes undertaken by the interim administration.
They also reviewed the entire gamut of UNDP's cooperation with Bangladesh government during their meeting.
Speaking to the media, Renata also mentioned that matters pertaining to Chittagong Hill Tracts were also discussed.
Iftekhar announced to the press that the Chief Adviser was planning a visit to the Chittagong Hill Tracts area on November 19.
"This government has made enormous stride towards fulfilling our pledges in the region with regard to development as well as the implementation of the CHT Peace Accord. The Chief Adviser will see this progress on the ground as we approach the observance of the tenth year of this Peace Treaty," said the Adviser.
