Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said Sunday the United States (US) should take proper steps to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza instead of interfering in Bangladesh politics, reports UNB.
The minister made the remarks while addressing a rally arranged by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) in front of the National Press Club in the city Sunday in protest against Israeli attacks on Palestinian people.
JSD Dhaka city unit coordinator Mir Hossain Akhter, joint coordinator Nurul Akhtar, Dhaka North city unit president Shafiuddin Mollah and JSD central leader Nader Chowdhury also spoke at the programme.
Mr Inu, also JSD president, said: "The silence of the United States proves that they support the Gaza attacks...they haven't stood against the attacks. They were also silent about the terrorist activities unleashed by BNP-Jamaat in Bangladesh."
The information minister asked the new US envoy-designate to Bangladesh to suggest that the BNP shun militancy and violence before sitting in negotiations for a fresh election.
He said Israel was killing innocent people, including women and children, which was obviously a crime against humanity. "Every nation should come forward to put an end to such heinous crimes."
Terming Israel as a terrorist country, the Minister said Israel alone had kept entire Middle East volatile as the US always supported them without taking an initiative to stop war. "Similarly, the US had supported Pakistan during the 1971 war against Bangladesh's liberation."
