UZ polls vital for grassroots' socio-economic dev: Nasim

SIRAJGANJ, Feb 11 (BSS): Awami League (AL) presidium member and spokesperson of 14-party alliance Mohammad Nasim said on Monday upazila (UZ) parishad election is a must for the socio-economic development of the grassroots people.

"The upazila election is very important to gear up the development activities of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It (UZ election) would be more meaningful if all political parties, including BNP, join the polls," he said.

The AL leader came up with the remarks while speaking at a meeting at Kazipur upazila AL office before submitting the nomination paper of the AL chairman aspirant in the UZ polls.

The people will cast their votes for Sheikh Hasina's nominated candidates in the upcoming polls like the parliamentary election, he added.

Earlier, Nasim addressed a function of the teachers and students at Shaheed M Monsur Ali Government College.

He thanked the Prime Minister for launching Masters Course in three subjects at the institution.+
