Verdict in extortion case against Minu on Aug 26

RAJSHAHI, Aug 21 (UNB): The verdict in an extortion case filed against Rajshahi City Corporation Mayor Mizanur Rahman Minu and his 10 associates by a college management committee member will be delivered Sunday (August 26).
After hearing both sides, Additional District and Sessions Judge (Third) Zahirul Haq fixed the date today (Tuesday).
Earlier, the court recorded the depositions of nine witnesses to the case.
Shamsul Alam Khan, a managing committee member of Evergreen Model School and College in the city, filed the case against them on April 27 with Rajpara police station for allegedly demanding Tk 0.40 million as toll from him.
Minu, also a former BNP lawmaker, was arrested by joint forces on June 1 last and sent to jail on a three-month detention.1
