Awami League (AL) leader Suranjit Sengupta said Tuesday that the verdict in the war crimes case of Jamaat-e-Islami chief Motiur Rahman Nizami would not be deferred again and again for his sickness, reports UNB.

"Usually, the judgment in a criminal case is delivered with the presence of the accused in the dock. Considering this, the court took Nizami's sickness into consideration. But, Nizami wouldn't be given the chance in the future," he said.

The veteran AL leader said this while addressing a discussion organised by Nouka Samarthak Ghosti at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU).

Earlier on the day, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT-1) kept the judgment on Motiur Rahman Nizami's pending as he suddenly fell sick.
