FE REPORT | August 25, 2025 00:00:00

The families of those martyred in the July uprising and the injured of the movement on Sunday demanded that justice is ensured through immediate trial for the perpetrators.

They also demanded resignation of Dr Asif Nazrul, law, justice, and parliamentary affairs adviser, and Md. Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, special assistant to the chief adviser.

They made the demands at a rally in front of the National Press Club near Bangladesh Secretariat. Police were deployed in the area.

They said law enforcers are yet to arrest the killers of the movement and alleged that the accused of the murder cases of the July uprising were getting bail.

They also alleged that police attacked the family of a martyr and action was yet to be taken in this regard.

"For this reason, we demand resignation of Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul and Special Assistant Khuda Baksh Chowdhury," they said.

Rabiul Awal, brother of martyred Shaheed Imam Hossain, said that the authorities had dilly-dallied in holding the trial for his brother's murder.

Shaheen Ahmed Khan, an injured of the movement, alleged that the advisers were forgetting the pains of those injured in the movement and the families of the martyrs.

He said a police sub-inspector who is allegedly involved with murder during the movement secured bail.

Sheikh Mustafiz, an injured of the July uprising, said that police attacked family members of the martyrs and those injured in the movement on August 19, but no action was taken.

A couple of their slogans were "We have one demand, one point, law adviser's resignation" and "My brother is in the grave, why the killers are now outside."
