Voter listing begins in Khulna City

KHULNA, Aug 26 (UNB): Voter registration with photographs in Khulna City Corporation (KCC) formally began Sunday which was stalled Thursday following the imposition of curfew.
55 Infantry Division GOC M Rafiqul Islam formally inaugurated the registration work at Khulna Model School and College centre Sunday morning.
Rafiqul Islam sought all-out cooperation from the officials involved in this work.
Khulna Divional Commi-ssioner M Yunusur Rahman, DIG M Asaduzzaman Mia, DC Roushanara Begum and senior army and civil officials were, among others, present in the programme.
The registration work started dividing 31 wards of the city into five groups.
The voter registration work will be conducted from 164 centres and is expected to end by September 19.
District Election Officer (DEO) Mohammad Mujibar Rahman said some 9,000 people out of some 56,412 dwellers of 5, 11, 13, 14, 16 and 17 wards will be listed from 31 centres on the day.
