Voter registration ends in Sherpur

SHERPUR, June 8 (BSS): The work on the preparation of voter list with photographs and national identity cards concluded here today.

General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 19 Infantry Division AKM Mujahid Uddin visited the voter registration centre of Chithliya Government Primary School under Sribordi Upazila of the district today.

While visiting the voter registration centre, Mujahid Uddin talked to the people and he thanked them for their cooperation in completing the voter registration process smoothly.

Acting Commander of 309 Infantry Division Golam Mostafa, Commander of Sherpur Army Camp Touhid and Deputy Commissioner Shamsunnahar Begum and Acting Police Superintend Tutul Chakrabarty were present on the occasion.

According to the district election office, a total of 8,15,000 voters have been registered in Sherpur district while the number of voters was nine lakh in 2006.
