The process of voter registration has been completed in the Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) area, an official said Monday, reports bdnews24.com.
"The time-frame fixed by Election Commission (EC) to register voters in DCC is over. Most voters have now been registered," deputy election officer for Dhaka division Biswas Latifur Rahman told the news agency.
Rahman said that 13 information booths will be se up at as many police stations in DCC area until Feb 29 to assist people who had not yet registered.
"Anyone who again fails to register can contact the central server room at Mohanagar Natyamancha, in line with the EC's plan," the official officer said.
According to EC secretariat data, 3,437,295 voters had been registered in DCC by Feb 8. The cancelled voter list from 2006 showed 3,978,627 voters registered in the same area.
This time the number of voters might only be 3.6 million as there is no scope now to become dual or fake voters, the deputy election officer said.
