Voter registration work going on fast in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Aug 27 (BSS): The process of preparing voter list with photographs and national identity (ID) cards gained further momentum each passing day as hundreds of common people were rushing to the registration centres in Rangpur pourasabha.
A total of 60,309 voters of ward Nos 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 have so far completed all formalities including photography, giving fingerprints and other process at the 28 computerised registration centres during the last eight days ending Sunday evening and the process continues for Wards Nos 4, 5 and 6 and completed for Wards 1, 2 and 3.
According to the previous voter list, there were a total of 72,978 voters in these six wards of the pourasabha and the process progresses very successfully with the spontaneous participation of the common people, officials concerned said Monday.
Increasing number of voters were rushing to the registration centres every day with huge enthusiasm and waiting in the queues.
Technical team leader for the Pilot Project of the armed forces and commanding officer of 5 Signal Battalion of 66 Infantry Division Shahriar Ahmed Chowdhury is monitoring the activities of the technical teams.
