KHULNA, Aug 4 (UNB): A number of voters who had been waiting in the queue at Primary Teachers Training Institute (PTI) centre from Monday left the centre without casting their votes due to faulty voter list.

There are 4,282 voters in the three centres in PTI but 50 per cent of the voters present could not cast their votes as the polling officials informed them that their names and addresses do not match with the voters list.

While talking to newsman the presiding officers admitted the incident and said that they had nothing to do in this situation.

Independent candidate for the mayoral post Moslemuddin, who was also a voter of the centre, failed to cast his vote.

Returning officer Mohsin Ali was visiting the centres to find out the problem till the filing of the report this morning.

Voting in the other centres in the city, however, is going on smoothly and no untoward incident occurred there until now.

The local-government elections to four city corporations and nine municipalities started Monday under the state of emergency.
