Voting for SCBA polls starts

Election to the Supreme Court Bar Association was held amid a festive atmosphere on the Supreme Court premises in the city on Wednesday — Focus Bangla


Voting for the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) election began on Wednesday to elect the new executive committee for the 2024-25 sessions.
The two-day polls started at 10:00 am on Wednesday and will continue until 5:00 pm with a one-hour break.
On the first day of the polls, a total of 3,261 votes were cast, according to SCBA sources. Chief of the Election Sub-Committee, Senior Advocate and Freedom Fighter Abul Khair, stated that a total of 7,883 registered voters are expected to participate in the election.
The main contest is expected to be between the ruling Awami League-backed Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad and the pro-BNP Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel.
Senior lawyers Abu Sayeed Sagor and Shah Monjurul Hoque are competing for the positions of President and Secretary, respectively, from Bangabandhu Awami Ainjibi Parishad.
On the other hand, Senior lawyers and former SCBA Secretaries AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon and Ruhul Quddus Kazal are vying for the positions of President and Secretary, respectively, from Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel.
Additionally, Senior lawyers M K Rahman and Md Eunus Ali Akond are running as independent candidates for the position of SCBA President.
