The by polls to three pourasava's mayoral voting were held peacefully Saturday amid tight security, reports BSS.
The balloting began at 8:00am and continued until 4:00pm without any break at Choumuhani in Noakhali, Sadar in Feni and Rohanpur in Chapainawabganj district.
According to BSS Correspondent in Feni, there was no incident of violence in the elections in Sadar pourasava.
The mayoral post fell vacant, as Nizam Uddin Hazari, who was the mayor, was subsequently elected Jatiya Sangsad member.
A total of two candidates including Haji Alauddin and Alal Uddin are contested the polls for mayoral post. There are 77,508 eligible voters.
According to Noakhali correspondent, the mayoral post remained vacant, as Mamunur Rashid Kiron, who was the mayor, elected Jatiya Sangsad member, while Golam Mostafa Biswas was elected parliament member of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad, who was mayor of Rohanpur pourasava.
A total of nine candidates contested the polls for mayor post of Choumuhani pourasava in Noakhali.
In Chapainawabganj, seven candidates contested for the mayoral post in Rohanpur pourasava.
