Warid Telecom has provided Election Commission with 500 laptop computers with scanners and printers for the voters' list and national identity (ID) card project.
The donation worth more than Tk 20 million is the highest contribution by a private company to this project, reports UNB.
The voters' list project will officially start on August 23 in Khulna.
Chief Election Commi-ssioner (CEC) ATM Shamsul Huda at a views-exchange meeting in Khulna Wednesday appreciated Warid Telecom's support for the project.
The government has approved an allocation of Tk 5.47 billion for the project.
"Approximately 27 per cent of the project budget is for equipment… generous assistance from companies like Warid Telecom has helped us to manage the project at required scale," the CEC told the meeting.
The CEC, accompanied by senior officials and Warid executives, visited Khulna Model School to see installation and demonstration of laptop computers at registration booths.
