The government Sunday recommended withdrawal of 340 more cases filed against mostly political leaders during the army-backed caretaker government on political grounds, reports UNB.
State Minister for Law Qamrul Islam who chaired a meeting at the home ministry to review the outstanding cases told reporters that they had recommended lifting of 325 criminal cases and 15 corruption cases initiated by the Anti-corruption Commission (ACC).
With this, the number of total cases so far withdrawn is 4,118, of which 3,778 are criminal and 340 corruption cases.
The meeting rejected the plea for lifting cases against two former MPs of BNP.
