April 25, 2014 00:00:00

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu Thursday said distorting history is the political history of BNP, reports BSS.

"Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) founder Major General Ziaur Rahman had hit the four basic principles of Bangladesh's constitution. He had distorted history. The BNP came into being through the distortion of history," he said while speaking at a discussion organised by Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University unit, on its premises in the city.

Awami League acting General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, MP, AL Population Affairs Secretary Prof Dr Badiuzzaman Bhuiyan, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Prof Dr M Iqbal Arsalan, and BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Dr Pran Gopal Datta took part in the discussion. Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad leader Prof Dr  ASM Zakaria Swapan presided over the meeting.

The industries minister said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had dreamt for a non-communal Bangladesh.

But Ziaur Rahman had tried to turn Bangladesh into a communal state by distorting the constitution and rehabilitated the war criminals, he added.

The minister said now Zia's party, the BNP, is trying to distort the history of Bangladesh.

Amir Hossain Amu said the BNP is currently in worry over its existence in view of massive development activities being carried out by the government.

Therefore, that party is trying to distort history and rehabilitate the Razakars and Al-Badars (collaborators).

Mahbubul Alam Hanif said the new generation would not allow the BNP to implement its conspiracy to distort history.
