Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu alleged that BNP wanted to create a constitutional vacuum in the country, report agencies.
"BNP wants to create a constitutional vacuum in the country…their conspiracy is neither against Sheikh Hasina nor Awami League (AL), it's rather against the country's independence," the minister said this while inaugurating an exhibition of a book 'Ganotantrer Jonno Sangram' (Struggle for Democracy) organised by Awami Jubo League at the Shilpakala Academy in the city Thursday marking the 33rd Home Coming Day of AL President and now Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Presided over by Jubo League Chairman Muhammad Omar Faruque Chowdhury, Principal of Eden Women's College Begum Hosne Ara and eminent artist and Director General of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) Pijush Bandapadhaya joined the programme as the special guests.
"BNP doesn't believe in the country's sovereignty and national anthem. They're trying to obstruct the trial of war criminals. They want to destabilise the country by waging a movement in the name of caretaker government," he told the programme.
In another discussion, AL publicity and publication secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud said BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia went to Narayanganj to shed crocodile tears.
"Khaleda Zia went to Narayanganj after the murders of seven people to shed crocodile tears. But Khaleda Zia didn't visit the burn victims at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. That means she wants to fish in the troubled waters.
