Protesting the speech of BNP's acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jatiya Party (JP) secretary general Zia Uddin Bablu, Sunday in a statement urged BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to seek apology to the nation, reports BSS.
Suggesting Mirza Fakhrul to remember the birth of BNP, its activities and way of assuming power, Bablu said taking up the power of Hussain Mohammad Ershad and Ziaur Rahman were not the same.
"Ershad had assumed power through an invitation from an elected president. But Zia had taken the power climbing the stairs of killing of patriotic army officers and freedom fighters during November 3 to November 7 period in 1975 after the assassination of Bangabandhu along with his family members in August 15, 1975," he added.
"Zia after the assumption in power faced 17 revolts in the army," said Bablu, adding, "His wife Khaleda Zia has to answer that how many army officers have been killed by Zia in the name of stopping revolts."
Mr Bablu also blamed Zia for introducing PPR for the political parties, which turned the political parties into business organisation.
He said Zia has established the anti-liberation force Jamaat politically while Begum Zia has destroyed the spirit of liberation war through patronising the Jamaat. "Begum Zia should seek apology to the nation."
