Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya (Bir Bikram) said Saturday no national polls will be held in the country prior to the scheduled timeframe, reports BSS.
"An elected government can be replaced through polls but it (government) can't be ousted by unleashing destructive activities in the name of movement," he said.
Maya, also general secretary of Dhaka City Awami League (AL), said this while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion in the city.
Sheikh Russell Jatiya Shishu Kishore Parishad organised the discussion at the National Sports Council auditorium marking the 51st birthday of Sheikh Russell, youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Begum Fazilatunnessa Mujib. Secretary General of the Parishad Mahmud-us-Samad Chowdhury chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by its adviser Sirajul Islam Mollah, MP, organising secretary general KM Shahidullah and Dhaka City unit general secretary Mujibur Rahman Howladar.
