Health Minister Mohammad Nasim said Tuesday there is no political definition of crime, as a guilty person is always a guilty person, reports UNB.

"We always identify a guilty person as a guilty person. We don't involve politics in it, and I believe it has no relationship with politics," he told the journalists in reply to queries over the seven murders in Narayanganj and killing of a upazila parishad chairman in Feni.

The minister was addressing a press briefing after a meeting of Awami League (AL)-led 14-party at the Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi political office in the city Tuesday.

President of Workers Party of Bangladesh and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon presided over the meeting.

Nasim, also the presidium member of the ruling AL, further said, "The government will take actions against culprits, no matter who they are."

The AL leader said: "We're worried over the incidents that took place in Narayanganj, Feni and some other places. Any criminal act is very unfortunate for the country. Only arrest is not enough, the criminals must be punished."

The meeting congratulated Narendra Modi government on forming a new government in India. "India will go forward in solving undecided issues with a friendly attitude with Bangladesh through discussions."

BSS report adds: The ruling Awami League (AL)-led 14-party alliance will organise public rallies in four metropolitan cities in June.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the 14-party alliance held at the political office of Awami League (AL) president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city Tuesday.

Emerging from the meeting, 14-party spokesman AL presidium member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim disclosed this to the reporters.

He said the alliance will hold public rallies in Barisal, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Chittagong cities in June to mobilise people's support in favour of expediting the war crimes trial, giving a befitting reply to BNP-led combine's propaganda and revamping the alliance at the grassroots level.

Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon chaired the meeting, also attended, among others, by AL joint general secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak, organising secretaries Ahmed Hossain, AFM Bahauddin Nasim and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Samyabadi Dal general secretary Dilip Barua, Communist Kendra convener Dr Wazedul Islam Khan, Jatiya Party (Manju) leader Sheikh Shahidul Islam, NAP leader Ismail Hossain, Tariquat Federation secretary general Lion MA Awal, AL information and research affairs secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain and deputy office secretary Mrinal Kanti Das.
