A Bangladeshi national is among three individuals killed in the United Arab Emirates following a wave of retaliatory drone strikes launched by Iran, the UAE Ministry of Defence has confirmed, reports bdnews24.com.

In a statement posted on social media platform X on Sunday, the ministry detailed the scale of the Iranian offensive and the resulting casualties.

According to the statement, UAE forces detected 541 drones launched from Iran.

While 506 of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were successfully intercepted and destroyed, 35 drones struck different targets across the country.

"The incidents resulted in three fatalities of Pakistani, Nepali and Bangladeshi nationalities," the ministry said. Moreover, 58 people suffered injuries in the attacks.

The wounded include citizens from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, the UAE, Egypt, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, and Afghanistan.

An FE Report adds: Bangladesh has voiced deep concern about the safety of its citizens in the troubled Middle East and condemned violations of sovereignty in the region following a new wave of hostilities involving Iran.

In a statement issued Sunday, the foreign ministry said Dhaka remained "deeply concerned" about the security of Bangladeshi nationals residing in Iran and elsewhere in the region amid escalating tensions. The ongoing military clashes are reported having been triggered by US-Israeli strikes against Iran and Tehran's reprisals.

The government warns that continued hostilities risk undermining regional peace and stability while placing civilian populations in greater danger. "Conflict brings no solution," the statement says, urging all parties to exercise maximum restraint and return to diplomacy.

Bangladesh reaffirms its longstanding position in favour of dialogue, mutual respect and adherence to international law as the only viable path to dispute resolution.
