Six more children died with measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours until 8:0 am on Tuesday.
With the latest daily count, the total fatalities from measles and measles-like symptoms almost touched 594 since mid-March, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the total, 504 children died with measles symptoms while 90 others were confirmed as measles cases, the DGHS said in its daily bulletin.
According to the health authorities, some 1,292 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide during the reporting period. Since March 15, a total of 73,362 people have developed measles-like symptoms.
According to the DGHS bulletin, 42 new measles cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of confirmed infections to 9,136 since March 15.
A total of 59,106 patients with measles symptoms had got admitted to hospitals during the period and 54,852 of them had recovered and returned home.
No deaths from confirmed measles were reported in the past 24 hours.
However, six children died with measles symptoms, including four in the Dhaka division and one each in the Rajshahi and Sylhet divisions, the report added.
