FE REPORT | December 14, 2025 00:00:00

The interim government has announced a reward of Tk 5.0 million for information leading to the arrest of Faisal Karim Masud, the prime suspect in the shooting of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson and Dhaka-8 independent election hopeful Sharif Osman Hadi.

The attack, carried out in broad daylight in the capital on Friday, has triggered a nationwide manhunt.

The announcement came hours after Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) released on Saturday a photograph of the suspect and appealed to the public for assistance in locating him.

Police say CCTV footage and other evidence point to Faisal Karim Masud, also known as Daud Khan, as the person who fired shots at Hadi from the back of a motorcycle.

Hadi remains in critical condition after being shot in the head, raising concerns over law and order and political violence ahead of the upcoming national elections.

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury made the announcement following an emergency meeting of the law and order core committee at the Bangladesh Secretariat.

The decision came hours after the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) released a photograph of Faisal and sought public assistance to help track his whereabouts and facilitate his arrest.

DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Mohammad Talebur Rahman, in a statement, urged citizens to share any relevant information about the suspect, who is also known as Daud Khan.

According to police sources, after reviewing CCTV footage from the Inquilab Cultural Centre, the scene of the attack and other available evidence, investigators believe Faisal to be the prime suspect.
