The admission test for the first-year undergraduate programmes of the Arts, Law and Social Sciences faculties of Dhaka University for the 2025-26 academic session was held on Saturday (December 13).
The examination took place from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. A total of 107,701 candidates appeared for the test against 2,934 available seats.
The admission test was conducted at Dhaka University as well as at public universities in seven divisional cities outside the capital.
The centres outside Dhaka included Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barishal University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh, and Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Niaz Ahmad Khan visited the examination centre on the DU campus during the test.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Saima Haque Bidisha, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Professor Dr Mahmud Osman Imam, and Proctor Professor Saifuddin Ahmad were also present during the inspection.
After visiting the exam centres, the Vice-Chancellor said the examination was held in a fair, peaceful, and disciplined environment.
"Nearly 39 candidates are competing for each seat, which has made this one of the most competitive admission tests," he said.
He also urged parents not to put unnecessary mental pressure on their children regarding admission results. "Admission is not the only measure of success. Every student has their own abilities, and those capabilities should be supported and allowed to flourish," he added.
