Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and Jatiya Chhatra Shakti (JCS) on Saturday staged demonstrations, protesting activities of the banned organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on the Dhaka University (DU) campus.

The two student platforms claimed that posters of BCL were found pasted at several locations on the campus on Friday night. The posters read: 'Unconditional release of all political prisoners of Bangladesh Chhatra League.'

In response, DUCSU leaders gathered in front of the Proctor's office, chanting protest slogans and demanding that the university administration review CCTV footage within 24 hours, identify those responsible, and take legal action.

During the programme, student leaders met with Proctor Saifuddin Ahmed, who said if the matter had been reported earlier, immediate steps could have been taken.

He added that security officials have been instructed to verify the identities of on-duty guards, and Provosts and the Estate Office have been asked to prepare a related list.

DUCSU Social Welfare Secretary AB Jubayer said, "The banned Chhatra League has carried out such provocative activities before, including displaying images of Sheikh Hasina, hanging banners, and locking campus gates. Their actions continue due to administrative negligence. We have given the Proctor 24 hours to check CCTV footage and identify those involved. Pasting posters secretly at night must stop. There can be no compromise with those who have shed students' blood."

Meanwhile, around 3:00 pm, Jatiya Chhatra Shakti held a protest procession from the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC), marching through various halls and it ended in front of the Proctor's office with a press briefing. DU unit President Tahmid Al Muddassir Chowdhury and other leaders addressed the gathering.
