Shafique Ahmed no more

Noted lawyer Barrister Shafique Ahmed passed away at around 5:30 pm on Sunday at a hospital in the capital, family sources said. He was 89, reports BSS.
He served as the Technocrat Law Minister from 2009 to 2014. He served as the former vice chairman of the Bar Council and as President of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
He is survived by two sons and one daughter. His son, Barrister Mahbub Shafique, told the media that he was admitted to the hospital on Saturday after his physical condition deteriorated.
Shafique Ahmed was a senior lawyer of the Supreme Court. He was born in 1937 in Brahmanpara Upazila of Cumilla. In 1967, he obtained an LLM from King's College London and a Bar-at-Law degree from Lincoln's Inn.
