The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to file separate corruption cases against the family members of former parliament members Shamim Osman and Mahbubul Alam Hanif for failing to submit their wealth statements within the prescribed time.
According to an ACC press briefing, separate cases will be filed against Imtinan Osman and Labiba Joha Angona, children of former Narayanganj-4 MP Shamim Osman.
The investigation team was led by ACC Deputy Director Rezaul Karim, with Assistant Director Piyas Pal as a member, both from the ACC headquarters in Dhaka.
The ACC had issued notices on August 26 last year, asking the two individuals to submit their wealth statements. However, they neither applied for an extension nor submitted the statements within the deadline.
In a separate decision, the ACC also approved filing three cases against the children of former MP and Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif.
The accused are Fahim Afsar Alam, Farhan Sadik Alam, and Tanisha Alam.
