Burglary reported at Hadi's home

A burglary has been reported at the village home of Osman Hadi, an election hopeful and convener of Inquilab Mancha who was shot in the capital, reports bdnews24.com.

The incident took place late on Friday night at Hadi's house in the Khasmahal area of Jhalakathi's Nalchhiti, according to his cousin Sirajul Islam.

He said thieves broke a window and entered the house while no one was at home, adding that it was not yet clear how much property had been stolen.

Nalchhiti Police Station chief (OC) Ariful Alam said police patrols were on duty at the time but had not received any report of the burglary. "We are looking into the matter," he added.

Earlier on Friday, Hadi was shot in the head in the capital's Bijoynagar area.

The incident occurred shortly after Hadi, who was making an independent bid for the Dhaka-8 seat, had completed a campaign event at a mosque in Motijheel and was travelling by battery-powered rickshaw with colleagues.
